Left: One of the Hulks used for training from about 1905 to 1931. Hulks were named Fisgard I, II, III & IV. In 1932 Tiffies moved to Chatham and were
billeted in Frobisher Block HM Dockyard. The MTE (Mechanical Training Establishment) at St Mary’s Island Chatham was for workshop training; some march from Frobisher Block.
Right: Training moved to
RNATE RN Artificer Training Establishment) Torpoint in 1939) and commissioned as HMS Fisgard in December 1946. Training moved to HMS Raleigh in September 1983. Training moved to HMS Sultan in 1997. After 2006
no more new entries were recruited. The end of RN Artificers.
